God can do Infinitely More

sticky-note

I love the Bible app on my phone.  Every day I receive a daily scripture to ponder over and this is the one that popped up today.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 NLT

It’s not that I haven’t heard this scripture before.  I’ve read it. I’ve heard it spoken to me.  But when I read it this morning, it took my breath away.

My God can do infinitely more – infinitely more than I may ask or think.  I don’t even know what that looks like because it’s beyond my wildest imagination.  And because I can’t fathom it, that may be the reason why I doubt it.

This scripture forces me to ask myself a faith-testing question: I believe in Him, but do I believe Him?

God is faithful to a thousand generations, but sometimes I operate as if He skipped right over me.  Sometimes I convince myself that He can’t do all that He says He will do.  I treat God – the author of this universe – like a larger version of myself: wavering, imperfect, and uncertain.

But He’s not me.  The same God who created the earth, split the sea in half, and raised the dead is the same one who will create a new me, split my fears in half, and raise me back to life.

And He is powerful enough to do it for you, too.  We don’t have to see it before it happens in order to believe it.  We simply have to believe Him.

I dare you to walk in confidence today knowing this truth.  Go through your day as if you read a love note this morning from someone who makes your heart flutter.  God is that someone.  All He wants is our heart and our faith.

Trust Him. Believe Him.  Seek Him.
